Description
The Velari snaffle with cherry roller mouthpiece and loose rings combines the benefits of Sweet Iron, a single-jointed mouthpiece and loose rollers in a well-thought-out design. The bit sits well in the horse's mouth and offers a direct, attentive connection — without unnecessary complexity. The mouthpiece is made of Sweet Iron, which oxidises naturally in use. This natural process stimulates salivation and encourages the horse to stay soft and relaxed in the mouth, contributing to a smoother contact and a calmer, more confident way of going. The cherry roller consists of loose rollers that discourage the horse from grabbing the bit. At the same time the rollers increase tongue activity, which further stimulates saliva production and supports the jaw in relaxing. This bit is particularly suitable for horses that are hard in the mouth, grab the bit or struggle to concentrate.
The single-jointed mouthpiece provides direct, clear communication between rider and horse. When the rider takes up contact the joint forms a V-shape that distributes pressure onto the bars and relieves the tongue in the centre. This mouthpiece suits horses with a higher palate well. Many horses appreciate the clear, straightforward feel of a single-jointed mouthpiece — especially horses that prefer a defined point of action and a stable contact.
Thanks to the loose rings the mouthpiece can move freely, which encourages light chewing and keeps the horse flexible and attentive in the hand. This mobility supports precise rein aids and ensures a soft, responsive connection throughout the ride.

Care & use
After every ride rinse the bit with warm water and dry with a soft cloth. Over time Sweet Iron develops a light patina — a natural oxidation process that improves the taste and acceptance of the bit. Store in a dry place and check regularly for even wear. Pay attention to the correct positioning of the bit: the star must be on the left side and the Velari logo on the right.
Disclaimer
Every horse and every rider is unique. The information provided serves as a general guide — not a definitive answer. When choosing the right bit, always consider your horse's specific needs and your own experience. Lead with grace, always.
